Love the bloody marys

I love the beer and drink selection at Court Avenue-especially the bloody mary bar! Its definitely the best Ive been to in the metro area. The location is great-right on Court Ave. I have to say that I like the food better at Raccoon River better, but perhaps I havent found the right thing. We tried the gumbo and it was good, but extremely spicy. I love spicy food, but I could barely swallow this!

Downtown Lunch Spot

Yummy falafel and hummus salad! Also, a great spot for dinner before a Civic Center Event.

Best Brew Pub in the Metro

CABCo is what a brewpub should be. They have a great selection of beers and a top notch menu ranging from pizzas to entrees to sandwiches. I would also like to point out that their wings are probably the best in Des Moines. They aren't as hot as some other wings, but the taste is like nothing any other restaurant offers. The main restaurant is a little fancier than normal with tableclothes and candles. I usually pass on the dining room and head to the bar area unless I am taking the wife out for a special time. The bar area is more laid back with a few TVs showing the games. The mug club is a good deal too. For 30 some dollars a year you get a mug, a shirt, cheaper prices to fill said mug which is a lot larger than the normal pints, and access to mug club parties throughout the year where they usually have appetizer buffets. A word of advice though. You need to sign up for the mug club early in the year. If you wait until after February to sign up they will probably be sold out.
