I prefer the food at Raccoon River over Court Avenue. I love that the space is large enough for big groups or parties yet appropriate for small get togethers or intimate dinners at the same time. My very thing to order is the BBQ chicken pizza. Its sweet an tangy and has a great kick! One of my good friends often splurges for the steak, which I am happy about each time because I love stealing a few bites! Their brewed beer is quite good to, I love to order the tall grass light beer. Their patio is quaint and its a pleasure to sit there on a cooler summer night.

Personally, I like Racoon River better than its Des Moines local brew sibling-Court Avenue. I love the atmosphere here-chill enough for a low-key dinner, but a bar upstairs for some more serious partying. I love trying their beer-and highly recommend the pizza! Their patio is cozy and fun, but it would be nice if it were about three tables bigger, as it fills up really fast in the warm weather. Ive been a few times when attending weddings at the neighboring Hotel Fort Des Moines-a perfect spot to pop in for a drink between the ceremony and reception. Its a huge place and can easily accomadate large roups.
