Getting a big group of friends together at the bar is fun, until you realize there are 150 other people there and you can’t keep your group all together. A number of bars in Des Moines have private rooms to accommodate your large group of friends. Or you could reserve it all to yourself and pretend you’re the villain in an ’80s action movie.

1. OverTime, 4810 N.W. 86th St., Urbandale: This sports bar has a private party room with two TVs, the option to pipe in music from the bar and access to the patio. If you want to use it on a Friday or Saturday night there is a $500 minimum food and drink purchase required, otherwise it’s free.

2. The Keg Stand, 3530 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines: The Keg Stand has a 1,100 square-foot room in the back that can be used for everything from fantasy football parties to rehearsal dinners. The space has a separate bar and two projector TVs. The use is free as long as The Keg Stand is providing your food and beverages.

3. Sbrocco, 208 Court Ave.: The basement at Sbrocco is more than just the wine cellar and Shorty’s. Parties can reserve the Chef’s Cellar, with $500-$1,000 minimum purchase required depending on the night in question. The space has been used for everything from private parties to large open houses.
