6 places to drink free wine

Yes, you are one with refined tastes. You own a wine refrigerator. You pronounce Shiraz correctly. You'd rather eat glass than drink Three Buck Chuck in public. That being said ... free booze!

Every Thursday between 3 and 7 p.m., stop by the wine counter at Gateway Market, 2002 Woodland Ave., for a free wine tasting. Bring a mustache and glasses so you can walk through again.

Visit the Tasting Room at Jasper Winery any day of the week to sample the full selection of Jasper wines for free. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 1-5 p.m. Sunday. Jasper Winery, 2400 George Flagg Parkway.

Sample free featured wines at Ingersoll Wine and Spirits, 3500 Ingersoll Ave., from 1-5 p.m. every Saturday. Or, if it's more convenient, sample at the Ingersoll Wine Merchants at 1300 50th St., West Des Moines, every Friday from 4-7 p.m.

Each Tuesday from 5-7 p.m., taste new arrivals at Casa di Vino with owner Howard Bernstein. 8805 Chambery Blvd., Suite 250, Johnston.

Sample Van Wijk Wines from Pleasant Hill anytime during business hours at Sticks in the East Village, 521 E. Locust St.

Taste and sample during business hours at The Lagniappe in Valley Junction. The coffee and wine bar features a rooftop patio and garden to enjoy a bottle of your favorite. 112 Fifth St., West Des Moines.
