The scene: Drink is definitely one place to see and be seen in the 'burbs. Even though the crowd was a little sparse when we stopped by on a Wednesday night, everyone was still dressed to the nines. This isn't exactly a straight-after-work hangout. It looked like everyone ran home to put on fresh clothes before arriving.
An acoustic trio was playing, and a large sliding glass door that separates the bar from the patio was pulled open, allowing easy access from deck to stage. There is a large smoking section on the patio, and the wall is covered with large photos of past bar-goers. There are also two flat-screen TVs outside, so we were able to see the sunset while watching LSU win the College World Series.
What we ordered: Wednesdays boast great drink specials: $1 draws and wells and $2 bottles. The slightly trendy atmosphere made me feel like a mixed drink, though, so I sipped a Sex on the Beach (made stiff with vodka, Midori, rum, Peach Schnapps, and cranberry and orange juices) and my friend went for a Long Island iced tea.
Who we met: Dudes. The only difference between a Wednesday night and a Friday night is the amount of people. It seemed both sexes were there to meet dates, making it a great singles hangout. There were a few tables around us with a mix of guys and gals, but most people appeared to be unattached. The group of motorcyclists we ran into were the only people who didn't quite blend in, partly because they were in their mid-40s, partly because they had long, gray beards.
Why you should go: Drink is known as a great place to dance and mingle on the weekends, but check it out mid-week for awesome drink specials in a low-key (but still hot) atmosphere.
