Great Bar/Nightclub!

I disagree with the above review...if you don't like to come in through the "smoking area" in the front, the staff will gladly let a person in from the entrance in the back. Besides, its an outdoor patio, so how can one complain about the smoke?? I've been to Cabaret West Glen several times, and NEVER had to wait 45 minutes to get a drink! Sounds to me like the person who made that claim is exaggerating a little bit. Its just like any bar or nightclub...sometimes you might wait a minute or two, but you'll always get a drink!
Overall, this is the best bar in West Des Moines hands down, and is probably the best in all of the Des Moines area! Every place has their niche, and Cabaret West Glen has found theirs in the West Glen Towncenter, a place that is booming with shopping, restaurants, and night life. A+ to the owner and their staff for doing things right!

What is so great about it?

One can easily obtain lung cancer just by entering the bar with all the smokers on the patio and around the entrance. Then, you wait up to 45 minutes for drink, which if anything other than a beer is poorly made. Your night ends with navigating overly intoxicated individuals who should have been cut off a long time ago while attempted to avoid touching any surfaces due to the layers of filth and sticky tabletops. Anyone ever heard of a floor plan?

Amazed and surprised at how much I like this place!

I have spent the time since Cabaret opened not liking it-which is completely unfair since I had never visited! I dont usually go to West Glen, primarily because its not near any of my friends houses and although my boyfriend and I do live in West Des Moines-nobody usually wants to go out there. I am so glad I made it there! I went after doing some some research on Happy Hours-this was one of the only good ones I found with cheap drinks and free food! The free food was generous and good, and the drinks specials just as they advertised-I will never pass up $1 beer! I loved the bags and lawn games that are available out on the patio. We had a wonderful time and I honestly cant wait to hit the happy hour again.

Un-Strug

This is a great bar to go to to hang out on the week days or to go get crazy on the weekends. The crowd is always changing so its not always the same type of people that go in every night. I don't know about nerd...but in my opinion he is wrong and must have something against the bar personally because he is mistaken in his review.

What a great bar...the staff is amazing, the martini's are great and the place is always busy. I hear they bought the place next door for an extended VIP room, anyone know if this is true?

Disappointed

I really had high expectations for a bar in West Glen. Tonic is great, but when i went to the Cabaret i was let down fast. The layout is jank. It looks like the owners ran out of money as nothing flows together. it's sometimes a good crowd there, because of location, but i feel awkward as the old people come there and the staff is rude. i pray for the day that someone buys this plays and changes it to something fun. One thing that also confuses me is that they promote it as a non-smoking bar, but then advertise it as a place to smoke on the patio. i guess they want it all, but in my opinion the Cabaret falls short. Only busy because of location, not because of substance.

Thank God for the smoking patio!

I love that Cabaret has accomodated its smoking patrons with their huge patio! You're still apart of the action and you don't feel like your left out.
