Great happy hours around the Des Moines metro

A drink special is just a drink special, but when it’s only available for a limited time right after you get off work, it seems a lot more enticing.

Nearly every bar has a happy hour and some have multiple ones for late-night and early-morning drinkers. For the purposes of this story, we decided to focus on the ones located in areas where large numbers of people work.

So go on, enjoy that two-for-one special. Just don’t forget you have to work at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

Happy Hour: Central

AJ’s on East Court, 419 E. Court Ave.: With 61 beers in cans and bottles, AJ’s is always a good place to stop for a brew. But with $1.50 on select cans and bottles (think PBR, Bud Light, Miller Lite) from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, it’s worth cutting out of the office a little early. Read more...
