The High Life Lounge looks like the ultimate 1970s rec room. The wood-paneled walls are covered with old beer signs for brands such as Ballantine, Olympia and of course, Miller. The menu boasts that the High Life serves no beer that was created after 1979. During lunch, you will find a good mix of blue-collar workers and office types. Everyone loves coming back for the cheap food and beer.

My top spots to bring out of towners

When people come from out of town, I love to pick spots that really showcase Des Moines, and tell visitors we arent just some small town.

Some of my favorite drinks

While I generally a basic beer and wine girl, here are some of my favorite drinks I love when I feel like changing up my routine a bit.

Fast Drinks and Douchebag Free Bars!

Are you sick of "hot-pocket " douchebags running amuck in Des Moines? Me too! After years of research, bar tabs, and spyhilis.....I have complied a list of bars where the booze is served fast and there's no popped collar in sight! Enjoy
