It's Foursquare Day at Cabaret

Cabaret West Glen, 560 Prairie View Drive, West Des Moines, is hosting a "Foursquare Day" on Friday, April 16. (How perfect, since 4 squared is 16, huh?) It starts at 3 p.m. and goes until bar close.

If you aren't familiar with Foursquare, it's a social media network that lets friends know where you are. If you're a regular at a certain bar, restuarant — even a bus stop — and you notify friends often enough that you're there, you can become "Mayor" of said location.

Once you've checked in at a venue, you can click through information about it, read other tips and reviews from visitors, etc. Go to foursquare.com for more info and to sign up.

So onto the event. Cabaret is both celebrating the opening of their patio (thumbs up to spring), and encouraging all of you to check in on Foursquare that you are at Cab West Glen. Fifty people checking in at the same time earns a coveted "Swarm Badge."

What's in it for you? Each person who checks in on Foursquare gets their first drink free. Plus there will be games, $1 draws and free food from 3-7 p.m. The party goes all night.
