Lunch Unplugged returns to the Temple Theater for a second season, with live music and food to entice you to unplug for an hour and forget about work for a bit. Preston Pugmire will perform at this week’s event, with seven more concerts through the end of March featuring Diego Val, Roxi Copland and others. Tickets are $8, and can be bundled with a lunch from South Union Cafe for an additional $7. Concertgoers may bring their own lunch if they wish. Des Moines Winter Games

Friday through Sunday: Unusually warm temperatures and fewer inches (or feet) of snow doesn’t mean the Des Moines Winter Games won’t go on — and there is still time to sign up for events. A few necessary changes have been made to the lineup (the ski and snowboard competitions have been moved to a later date, the Rail Jam will be held Friday night, pond hockey and ice fishing have been canceled), so check the website for updates. Sleepy Hollow will host the polar plunge at 5 p.m. Friday to kick off the weekend, followed by the ZiBob World Challenge, downhill kayak and ski bike races and a cardboard sled competition. Activities continue over weekend. Go to dmwintergames.com for more info and a full schedule. Sleepy Hollow Sports Park, 4051 Dean Ave.
