Snowstorm Music Tour
Thursday: Been looking for snow, but with little luck? The Snowstorm Music Tour, which stops at the Val Air Ballroom, features headliners T-Pain and Gym Class Heroes. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Show starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance at ticketmaster.com or at the Val Air box office, or $40 day of show. Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road, West Des Moines. 'Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom'
Thursday through Feb. 26: “Neighborhood 3: Requisition of Doom,” a play written by Jennifer Hayley and directed by Zachary Mannheimer, stars Nick Cornelison, Megan Hensley, James Serpento and Alissa Tschetter- Siedchlaw. The story is set in a subdivision with identical houses, where parents find their teens addicted to a horror video game. The game setting? A subdivision with identical houses. The goal? Smash through an army of zombies to escape the neighborhood for good. As the line blurs between virtual and reality, both parents and players realize that fear has a life of its own. 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday. $9 for students, $12 for adults at midwestix.com. Des Moines Metro Opera Food and Wine Showcase
Friday: Support the Des Moines Metro Opera while you indulge in local food and international wines at its annual Wine & Food Showcase. The event raises money for the organization, with wine tasting and food, plus an auction. One local winery — Tassel Ridge — will be on scene, as well as several domestic and international beer distributors including Madhouse, Millstream and Olde Main. Food will be provided by Café di Scala, Crème Cupcakes + Desserts, Gusto, Maytag, Sbrocco, Splash, Tartine and several others. 5:30-8:30 p.m. VIP ticket holders are invited to come at 4:30 p.m. $50 per person or $35 per person for a group of six or more. Diavolo Dance Theater
Saturday: Diavolo Dance Theater is an internationally renowned modern acrobatic dance company famous for its dancers’ movement on oversized, surrealistic sets and structures. Through dance, acrobatics and acting, the show’s story explores the challenges of relationships, absurdities of life and struggles to maintain our humanity in an increasingly technological world. 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $25. Gabriel Iglesias
Sunday: Comedian Gabriel Iglesias brings his “Stand Up Revolution” tour to the Civic Center for one night of his clean and animated comedy. In addition to appearances on several late-night shows and Comedy Central, Iglesias was a finalist on the fourth season of the reality series “Last Comic Standing.” (He was disqualified for using a smuggled BlackBerry to chat with friends and family, which violated the rules of the show.)
