Plan a romantic date with wine and cooking

Sparks will fly between you and your special someone during this pre-Thanksgiving event.

Jasper Winery is hosting its first ever SparkNight, a group date with wine and cooking. On Saturday, Nov. 21, your night will kick off at Jasper Winery, where you can taste their seasonal wines. Then head over to Country Club Market in Clive (2624 N.W. 157th St.) for cooking lessons with chef Terrie. You'll learn how to prepare dishes using some of Fall's best flavors. 6-10:30 p.m. Cost is $200 per couple, with 10% of the profits going to the local food bank. Space is limited and expected to fill up fast, so call the winery at 282-9463 to make a reservation. 

Jasper Winery also hosts "Wine and Dine Des Moines," a wine excursion that takes you from the Radisson (where you'll spend the night) to the Winery for a tour, wine tasting a gift certificate. Then you'll get transportation to Johnny's Italian Steakhouse where you'll get dinner for two and two commemorative Johnny's wine glasses. End your evening with a luxurious stay at the Radisson, and wake to a breakfast buffet. Cost is $199 per couple plus tax. Limited packages are available, so call 285-7777 to make a reservation.
