Halloween costumes: Iowa smoking ban
October 21, 2008
Political costumes are going to be hot this year, but if you can’t pull off Palin, opt for something even sassier. Everyone was talking about the smoking ban this summer, so arriving at a party as a giant pack of cigarettes is bound to ignite some conversation. Plus, this costume is cheaper than a carton of the real thing. This box got a Marlboro makeover, with a “Governor’s Warning” on the side, instead of the Surgeon General’s. The back is covered in universal “No” signs, with the date commemorating the day the ban went into effect.
Total cost: $10.97 for some batting, thick white wrapping paper, masking tape and a razorblade knife. (We had the box, “cigarette” tube, some red tape, glue and markers.)
How we did it: Basically, it involved copying the cigarette logo onto the box. Print out an example and make sure to space out your lettering and design properly for the best result
Hardest part: Drawing the logo onto the box, err, “pack.”
