MetromixOctober 18, 2010
Haunting in the Heights...Nightmareland
- Windsor Heights Annex - 6322 Hickman Road - Des Moines Metro
When you visit the Tech Star sleep clinic, you may be in for more than you bargained for! Strange things have been happening with their equipment, and some of the patients have been waking up to report disturbing visions. Worse yet, some of their patients haven't been waking up at all. Doctors at the clinic have assured you that "almost no one has had any problems" since they started using their new "Safedream" sleep pod technology, but then why do patients keep ending up in mental hospitals, mumbling about the terror, and the clowns... One such patient, before being restrained, has warned you to stay away. To stay away to preserve your very sanity, if not your life, despite the assurances of the doctors and nurses. He wants you to keep away, and not fall victim to this maze of horrors inside your unconscious mind.
The Asylum Haunted House
- Warren County Fairgrounds - 1400 W. Second Ave. - Central Iowa
With more than 12 themed rooms, the twists and turns of The Asylum along with its small, tight spaces will leave participants frenzied with fright. The Asylum is being sponsored by the Indianola Community Youth Foundation (ICYF).

It features three haunted houses, 3-D gallery, fog maze, two haunted walks, marshmallow roasts, live music, and a selection of food and merchandise vendors to keep the brave visitors entertained during the evening. New this year is a Twisted Tales Haunted Walk, which explores what it would be like if your favorite bedtime stories went wrong if Pinocchio was a psychopath, or the Big Bad Wolf won, and a "Zombie Shootout."
