Halloween costumes: Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin superheroes
You may not be running for office this fall, but you can still wield your fantastical powers by dressing up like your favorite lady politician, superhero style.
Total cost for Hillary Clinton: $23.50 (suit and shirt from Goodwill, wig, American flag sticker and superhero cape from Nobbies. Model’s own shoes and jewelry.)
Total cost for Sarah Palin: $13.19 (suit and shirt from Goodwill, American flag sticker and superhero cape from Nobbies. Model’s own shoes and glasses.)
How we did it: For Hillary Clinton’s costume, we went to Goodwill in search of a matronly pant suit. It was tricky to find a women’s wig that mimicked Hillary’s haircut, so we went with a man’s surfer wig and styled it with hairspray. For Sarah Palin’s costume, we bought a youthful, red skirt suit with a little sass. Her hair was in a simple updo the model did herself.
The flag pins were actually hologram stickers we taped to buttons. Their superhero capes were intended for a dracula costume, but we tucked the high collars in to make them look more superhero-ish.
Hardest part: Finding the suits. You may have to hit up more than one thrift store. Or raid your grandmother’s closet.
