Lots of Bachelor buzz is swirling in advance of Monday's finale. Will we see Ben Flajnik propose to model Courtney Robertson? And if he did, are they still together?
Courtney seems to be doing some damage control of late. She was spotted trying on wedding dresses Mark Zunino bridal dress shop in Los Angeles on Feb. 29. And at the recent Women Tell All episode Courtney mustered up some tears and asked all her fellow Bachelor contestants to forgive her for being such a brat all season.
But backstage at that taping of the Women Tell All episode neither Ben nor Courtney came off looking great.
The Los Angeles Times reports that while cameras were off as host Chris Harrison was getting IV fluids because he was feeling so lousy from the flu, Courtney had a chat with a staffer and her microphone was accidentally left on. She complained she felt like a deer in the headlights. Writes the Times:
"But I didn't play with my hair once. Aren't you proud?" she added.
"Yes," the producer replied. "That was good."
The staffer tried to distract Courtney by talking to her about the kind of cigarettes she smokes -- American Spirits, apparently -- and the model soon began to feel better.
"I'm not feeling very emotional anymore," she said, her tears dispersing. "You made me feel better. I appreciate it."
Then, she began to worry about coming off as too cold: "I don't know if I can show that emotion again," she fretted.
Also, backstage, reports The Times, Ben complained. After doing interviews following the show, Ben vented to show insiders: "One more of these [expletive] things and I'm done," he said, likely referring to the then-impending After the Final Rose taping (which apparently took place on March 3). "I have so many better things to do with my life."
Reality Steve has details from the After the Final Rose show - which airs immediately following Monday's finale - if you want spoilers. And EarSucker has some fresh details on the latest with Courtney and Ben, too.
ABC says in a release about the After the Final Rose show that "the woman who received Ben's final rose joins him for the first time in public as a couple. They discuss the high and lows of their relationship and what the future holds for them. It's the emotional ending to Ben's heartfelt journey to finally find true love."
In addition, says ABC, we'll get to hear former Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and her fiance, J.P., "discuss their future wedding plans and how they've found lasting happiness together."
So how is Ben feeling about the finale?
Chris Harrison tells TV Guide, "All of this has gotten to him, and I think it's slapped him upside the head in a good way. It's been horrible and I feel sorry for that, but I think you'll see a different guy next week at After the Final Rose. You'll see a little less bravado and cavalier attitude and more of the really sincere and true Ben we got to know and love."
