The 65th Cannes Film Festival is upon us (May 16-27). The red carpet is down. The stars are chilling somewhere nearby, apparently getting over jet lag before the craziness really starts.
And I'm about to jet in to answer some of the big burning questions of the world's premiere film festival.
Will Bill Murray show up for the Moonrise Kingdom red carpet opening night? And if he does, what kind of mayhem will be cause? Will Sacha Baron Cohen unveil a Dictator man-kini when he shows up on the first day (which also happens to be The Dictator's opening day). Will Robert Pattinson (Cosmopolis) and Kristen Stewart (On the Road) actually walk the other's red carpet? Which of Nicole Kidman's spicy roles (Hemingway and Gellhorn or The Paperboy) is spicier? What kind of movie judging style is designer Jean Paul Gaultier going to bring to the Cannes jury?
Oh, and who will win the big prize, the Palm d'Or in a field loaded with American entries (six!).
I'll be staying till the bitter end this year because that's when the true Hollywood star power heads over -- Brad Pitt, Pattinson, Stewart and Kidman (just to name a few) are coming at the tail end of the festival.
Wish me luck. I received an e-mail from a party organizer saying a major bash was due to start at 2 a.m. I thought for sure it was a typo. It was not.
This could be a very long festival.
