On the stage… An influential comedian who never stopped reinventing himself or searching for new ways to take on an oppressive government and a complacent American society, from his infamous “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” to his later years mocking corrupt politicians leading our country.
On the big screen… Unlike the comedians who catapulted quickly from stage to screen, Carlin’s big-screen debut marked the third act of his career. It wasn’t until 1989, in “Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” when he found the iconic role of Rufus, the aged mentor to Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. He also brought his bitter brand of humor to two Kevin Smith films: “Dogma” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” [pictured].
