["The Perfect Host" premiered at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The following is an excerpt from Metromix's coverage of the festival.]

“The Perfect Host” represents an intriguing but underwhelming debut for filmmaker Nick Tomnay. He casts Clayne Crawford (“A Walk to Remember,” “24”) as a bank robber looking for a place to hide out when he stumbles on the home of a well refined man (David Hyde Pierce) preparing for a dinner party. The intimate film takes several twists and turns as both of the lead characters reveal secrets designed to keep the audience guessing. The last act takes a wild departure from what’s come before, adding to the feeling that the premise is ultimately too thin to support a feature film. “Host” is basically a horror anthology short stretched out to 90 minutes.

["The Perfect Host" is also available from Magnolia's on demand service through select cable companies, Xbox Live and Amazon.com.]
