"Pink Flamingos"
Even by John Waters standards, “Pink Flamingos” is extreme—so lurid, in fact, that it’s difficult to figure out which sex scene is the most outrageous. One roll in the hay involves the crushing of a chicken. But it’s hard to top the fantastically bizarre set piece in which Waters’ transvestite muse Divine—competing for the title of “filthiest person alive”—breaks into the house of a rival family, dead-set to ruin their lives. Divine and her son lick and rub everything in sight, lose themselves in the moment, and eye each other up as they slowly get turned on. Where it goes from there is Waters at his most purposefully shocking. It’s a depraved moment for the record books.
