More to watch for: Major directors
Along with the hotly anticipated films from Quentin Tarantino, Steven Spielberg, Paul Thomas Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton, Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson, we can expect Kathryn Bigelow's untitled follow-up to "The Hurt Locker" (Dec. 19), Baz Luhrmann's 3D "The Great Gatsby" [pictured] (Dec. 25), Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom" (May 25), David O. Russell's "The Silver Linings Playbook" (Nov. 21), Ang Lee's "Life of Pi" (Dec. 21), Woody Allen's "Nero Fiddled" (TBD) and two from Steven Soderbergh: "Haywire" (Jan. 20) and "Magic Mike" (June 29).
Plus, "Drive" breakout director Nicolas Winding Refn reunites with Ryan Gosling for "Only God Forgives" (TBD), the suddenly prolific Terrence Malick returns with an untitled film starring Ben Affleck and Rachel McAdams (TBD) and, last but definitely not least, "Matrix" masterminds the Wachowskis should unveil their top secret "Cloud Atlas" (TBD).
