Do you hear the people sing? Ever since the '80s musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's French Revolution-set classic became one of the biggest hits in the history of Broadway there's been talk of a feature film version. It's finally happening under the direction of Oscar-winner Hooper with a powerhouse cast led by Jackman as Jean Veljean and Crowe as Inspector Javert, and also including Helena Bonham Carter and (maybe) Sacha Baron Cohen. Why now? Who knows. But give Hooper this: many directors say they want to make a musical. He's actually doing it.
