Julia Louis-Dreyfus: Lead actress, comedy
Two-time winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus stars as self-absorbed, megamaniacal yet oddly appealing Vice President Selina Meyer in HBO's Veep. And she's marking this nomination in a very practical way. "I'm celebrating by getting my teeth cleaned and following that, I'm going to get my hair colored. It's a day of maintenance," she says.
Louis-Dreyfus, who won her previous two Emmys for The New Adventures of Old Christine and Seinfeld, sounds giddy as she calls from Los Angeles. "I'm delighted. I'm so pleased that the show got it. It's nice to be invited to the party. What does it mean? It's certainly doesn't get old. I'm baffled and amazed that this good fortune continues to happen and I say this, I'm touching wood because I'm superstitious," she says.
What's ahead for her character in season two? "I want her to kick some (butt). And she will, politically-speaking. I want further humiliation and anxiety," says Louis-Dreyfus. -- Freydkin
