Henry Ian Cusick
Was: Desmond Hume, the former hatch-dwelling, button-pushing, electromagnet-resistant Scot. He reunited with long-lost love Penny (first by phone, later in person) in some of the series’ most emotional moments.
Is: Stephen Finch, a crisis manager in Shonda Rimes’ upcoming series Scandal (April 5, ABC). He also is slated to guest star as an FBI agent on Fox’s Fringe later this spring.
Lost flashback quotient: If his Scandal character has so much of a hint of Cusick’s Scottish brogue, then, aye, there could be flashbacks. Also, Finch is a former player who is trying to settle down and be a family man — kind of like Desmond was trying to do before Penny’s dad (ex-Other Charles Widmore) kidnapped him and took him back to the island.
