“Chocolat” (2000)
Food even made its way onto the poster of this Oscar-nominated film: A playful Juliette Binoche feeds a bite-size chocolate to a rugged Johnny Depp. The movie is a whimsical romance that believes in the allure of culinary perfection. Opening a Chocolaterie in a remote French village, Binoche is surprised to find that her delectable treats have helped the local townspeople confess their loves, rediscover sex drives and restore self-confidence. The shop becomes a beacon in the night to a wandering Irishman (Depp), bewitched by the sight of this beautiful, chocolaty queen.
