Take a look at the roster of bands for Saturday's KGGO Summerjam at Water Works Park, and you'll find bands full of nomadic musicians who have been part of a larger musical landscape than you might expect.
RATT - Guitarist Carlos Cavazo was a member of Quiet Riot, taking the place of Randy Rhoads, who moved on to Ozzy Osbourne's band. Bassist Robbie Crane has been a member of Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil's solo band and Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler's Adler's Appetite. Former member Jizzy Pearl was the one-time singer for Adler's Appetite, as well as L.A. Guns. At one point, Scorpions founder Michael Schenker played with the band. Former guitarist Keri Kelli was a member of Alice Cooper's band, Skid Row, and has worked with Jani Lane of Warrant. Former bassist Juan Croucier was in Dokken and Quiet Riot.
Brian Howe - Brian Howe has fronted both Ted Nugent's band and Bad Company, where he replaced original singer Paul Rodgers. Bad Company was a super group, giving Howe a connection to Free, Mott the Hoople and King Crimson. Rodgers eventually took his job with Bad Company back from Howe before joining Queen. In the 80s, Rodgers also joined The Firm with Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.
April Wine - Other than singer/guitarist Myles Goodwyn, there's nothing left from the early days of this Canadian hard rock band. Former member Carl Dixon went on to join The Guess Who. Longtime bassist Jim Clench spent some time with Bachman Turner Overdrive in the 70s.
Great White - Session musician-turned permanent keyboardist Michael Lardie was also a member of Night Ranger, and produced records for Dokken, Black Flag and Kajagoogoo.
Pat Travers Band - Former guitarist Patt Thrall was also a member of Asia and performed with Meat Loaf in the 90s. He has recorded with Tina Turner, Beyonce and Elton John. One-time drummer Nicko McBrain is the drummer for Iron Maiden. Another drummer, Tommy Aldridge, has been a member of Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy and Ozzy Osburne's band. Yet another drummer, Carmine Appice has performed with Vanilla Fudge, Rod Stewart and Ozzy.
