Q: How did Willey Fest come about?

Last year was my 30th birthday, and the whole premise was that I wanted to put a show together and listen to a bunch of my favorite bands. Instead of celebrating my birthday, it was more about celebrating the scene. I wanted to show support for local bands that have been helping me out doing shows.

Q: What’s the show you’re most proud of getting?

The first time we brought Mushroomhead to Des Moines was probably my favorite show I’ve done. I think it was the first time Mushroomhead had ever played Des Moines, due to their feud with Slipknot back in the day. They’ve been here several times since then, and seem to enjoy it every time they come.

Q: Do you have a dream show you want to land?

I’m a huge fan of Suicidal Tendencies. I’ve told friends that once I book them, I could probably retire. Being able to meet Mike Muir might be the highlight of my life.
