515 Alive acts

The organizers for 515 Alive have announced some of the acts for the Aug. 8 festival.

DJ Icey (DJ)

The Jungle Brothers (Hip hop)

Akil the MC of Jurassic 5 (Hip hop)

Mike Czech (Iowa native, co-host of the Skratch n Sniff mash-up radio program)

Evol Intent (Drum & bass)

Drumcell (Techno)

Heatbox (beatboxer who incorporates a Nintendo Power Glove in his act)

Cleo's Apartment (local hip hop/jazz/funk)

DJ Flash (DJ, event organizer)

This year the event has moved to the 500 block of East Village. More than 50 acts will perform on eight stages, with shuttles running to two additional stages on Fourth Street and Court Avenue. Other events include a breakdancing competition, skateboard demos, a foam tent party and more. Admission is free, with a $5 wristband if you want to drink outside.
