80/35 Play-In Details, plus pre and after party info
The Des Moines Music Coalition has announced the three acts who will compete for a main stage slot at the 80/35 Music Festival. Seedlings, Love Songs for Lonely Monsters and Holy White Hounds will perform at a play-in June 21 at The Gas Lamp, with online voting to follow. The final slots will be determined on July 2.
The winner will play the main stage at noon on July 7. The runners up will play the opening slots on the Hy-Vee Triathlon Stage at the fest.
Speaking of 80/35 news, the schedule for the festival will be announced tomorrow, with the final acts to be added to the bill. There won't be any headliner/mainstage level acts added, but there will be a few familiar faces.
And pre and after party info is starting to pop up. The bluegrass band Trout Steak Revival will play the Vaudeville Mews at 10 p.m. July 5. 80/35 act Dan Deacon will be a part of the Weekend Records after party July 7 at Wooly's.
There's also a weekend records this Friday at Wooly's, with Shock Diamond, Nu Depth and Culttastic spinning. That show starts at 9 p.m. and admission is free.
If you want to expand your 80/35 weekend further, former mainstagers Yonder Mountain String Band plays Nitefall on the River July 5. Devotchka and Seedlings play Wooly's that same night.
I'm sure People's, Americana and The Gas Lamp will be having events going on as well.
