Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Dark Star Orchestra announced for Nitefall on the River

The first two acts to play the Simon Estes Amphitheater this year as a part of the Nitefall on the River series have been announced.

2011 80/35 act Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes will play Nitefall on June 5. Since they last played Des Moines the band has released a new album, "Here," and a third is expected sometime this spring. Tickets are $25 in advance.

Dark Star Orchestra will give fans a bit of an 80/35 pre-party with a July 3 show at the amphitheater. DSO gigs always made up of a specific set lit from the Grateful Dead's 30 year touring history. But the band iesn't trying for a note-for-note remake of past Dead shows, putting their own spin on the classic songs. Shows are $20 in advance.
