Gay heavy metal band Pink Steel (MySpace motto: "Gay heavy metal at its hardest!") wants to lend a hand to the tiny Nevada town of Tuscarora, Nev.

Every year, the 13-person settlement has to deal with swarms of Mormon crickets. And according to the Wall Street Journal, the best way they've found to keep the insects at bay is blaring rock music, which works because of its vibrations (that's the theory, at least).

When the members of Brooklyn's Pink Steel heard about that, they wanted to help and sent 14 copies of their latest CD, "Out at the Devil," to each resident and the closest rock station, Mix 96.7 in Elko.

We thought that was pretty kind of them, with an extra layer of fun because of the LDS Church's support of California Proposition 8, which amended the constitution to ban gay marriage in 2008.

Of course, if you want to applaud Pink Steel's generous donation worth  at minimum  $140 in person, you'll have to travel a bit. Their site's show listings are outdated, but they're active in New York City in case you're in the area (and your hotel has an infestation).
