Gross Domestic Product taking submissions, DMMC Backstage Ball details
Two bits of Des Moines Music Coalition news that seemed like they go well together.
First, Gross Domestic Product will happen April 13 with stages at Vaudeville Mews and Fourth Street Theater. It's interesting to see the DMMC following the same format they used for Little Big Fest at Wooly's and House of Bricks in the East Village.
The group is taking submissions for bands through Feb. 11. You can submit by contacting info@desmoinesmc.com or going to the DMMC website.
The DMMC will hold its annual fundraiser, The Backstage Ball, Feb. 22 at the Val Air Ballroom. The event will feature live music by Bob Tyler & the Reckless Hearts, Uproar Jazz Quintet and DJ Tone Zone.
The DMMC will be recognizing Nate Logsdon and Chris Lyng of Mumford's, Mark Andersen of Dark Mirror, The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, DMMC volunteer Becky Migas and music writers Chad Taylor of Cityview, Dave Murphy of Iowavesmusic.com and, embarrassingly, the hack who writes this blog.
Admission to the fundraiser will be $75.
