Iowa Blues Challenge, Bowlful of Blues details

The Pain Killers, Serious Business and The Mississippi Misfits will play in the final round of the 2012 Iowa Blues Challenge May 26 at the Downtown Marriott, 700 Grand Ave. Each band will play a 45-minute set. Cover is $10. More info at cibs.org.

The 20^th annual Bowlful of Blues concert will be held Sept. 1-2 at Maytag Park in Newton. Grady Champion, Lurrie Bell and The Chicago Rhythm and Blues Kings headline the event, with Matt Woods and the Thunderbolts, Rob Lumbard, The Bob Pace Band, The Candy Makers, Joe and Vicki Price, Joanne Jackson with the Drama Kings, the Corinthian Baptist Church Choir with Bryce Janey and Curry Harter also performing.
