John Mellencamp announces Ames show
John Mellencamp will play Stephens Auditorium in Ames in April 28. The rock singer released a new album with a folkier sound in August, "No Better Than This," produced by T-Bone Burnett. He recently told Rolling Stone that he is no longer interested in being a rock star or playing larger venues, making the 3,000-ish Stephens a good fit.
The news comes the same week that Mellencamp's Farm Aid co-founder, Willie Nelson, plays a show in Des Moines. Earlier this month Mellencamp proposed Nelson be honored with a Nobel Peace Prize for his work to save American farms.
Tickets for the show will go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster and will be priced at $47.50, $77.50, $97.50 and $125.
