M. Shawn Crahan book signing June 23

I feel like I've blogged a lot about Slipknot and Stone Sour lately. I promise that this isn't becoming an all Slipknot blog, but they've had a lot of noteworthy announcements lately.

Like the fact that M. Shawn Crahan has a new book coming out June 19, "The Apocalyptic Nightmare Journey." While that sounds like it could be a good title for a survival horror novel, it's actually a book of Crahan's photography. He's been big into documenting Slipknot tours with photos and videos for years, and was a big proponent of Polaroids until supplies of the film dried up.

Crahan will be signing and discussing the new book at 5 p.m. June 23 at Barnes & Noble, 4550 University Ave., West Des Moines. The event is free, but it is a $55 book.

The book has 200 photos and a foreword by Metallica's Lars Ulrich.
