Mark Knopfler is not opening for Bob Dylan
EDIT: It seems Mark Knopfler will be joining the tour on Oct. 5. So no Knopfler for us.
Bob Dylan has selected a younger musician as the opening act for his Aug. 22 show at Wells Fargo Arena. Of course, younger is relative when you're talking about a 71-year-old musician. Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler (he's only 62), will open for Dylan at the show.
Knopfler's hits with the Straits include "Money for Nothing," "Sultans of Swing" and "Walk of Life." He worked with Dylan on the 1988 album "Down in the Groove" and was one of aproximately 7,000 artists featured on the Dylan tribute "Chimes of Freedom" set covering "Restless Farewell." Knopfler has also scored several movies, including "The Princess Bride."
Tickets are $49.50 and on sale now through dahlstickets.com.
