Morrissey is coming to Clear Lake

I have friends who have traveled around the country to see Morrissey play. Their reasoning was pretty simple: It seemed unlikely that the man who put the M in Manchester would ever come to Des Moines.

And the bad news is that he isn't coming to Des Moines, but the ex-Smiths frontman will be making a stop at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake.

Seriously. Morrissey just announced his fall tour, which includes an Oct. 30 show at the legendary ballroom. 

Kristeen Young will open all the dates. Iggy Pop and the Stooges are joining Morrissey for one show, but sadly it's Nov. 24 in Los Angeles. 

Tickets are $35 in advance and go on sale Friday through surfballroom.com.

Clint Curtis is the biggest Morrissey fan I know, and covered The Smiths' "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" at his The Films of John C. Reilly performance in April. There's a clip of that online, which I'm including here because why not?
