Slipknot bringing Knotfest to Iowa, Wisconsin
Recently announced on Ticketmaster and confirmed by Rolling Stone, Iowa metalheads Slipknot will return to their home state for a festival concert, Knotfest, on Aug. 17 at the Mid America Motorplex in Pacific Junction, just outside Council Bluffs.
It will be the band's first Iowa show since playing Wells Fargo Arena in early 2009, as well as their first since the death of bassist Paul Gray in May, 2010.
Also on the bill will be Deftones, Lamb of God, Deathklok (YES!), Serj Tankian, The Urge, Prong and Dirtfedd. Tickets are $35 and go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster.
For the Aug. 18 date in Sommerset, Wisconsin, Canibal Corpse, Gojira and Dillinger Escape Plan will also be on the bill.
The official website notes that this is the "first annual" Knotfest.
In the fall of 2009 the band briefly announced a similar festival in downtown Des Moines for the 10th anniversary of "Slipknot," but canceled it for unspecified reasons a few days later. It will be good to have the band back in their home state.
