Springsteen, not Jay-Z, will be appearing with President Obama Monday

UPDATE: The event will begin at 7:30 tonight at E. Grand and E. Fifth.

Former Juice reporter Briane Sanchez tweeted me with the rumor that Jay-Z would be appearing with Bruce Springsteen, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at his campaign stop Monday in Des Moines. Sorry, Hova fans, but it's just The Boss who is currently scheduled to make an appearance.

I think the confusion comes from that fact that news of the Des Moines appearance was referenced after the fact that Jay-Z and Springsteen would be appearing with the Obamas earlier Monday in Ohio. Rolling Stone, The Huffington Post and others soon posted that Jay-Z would be appearing in Des Moines as well.

I suspect that the initial press release just wasn't read closely. I know I've fallen victim to same type of mistake before. But I checked with the Obama campaign office and official word is that Des Moines is only getting Springsteen, the president and first lady. If that changes, I will let you know.

"Only getting Springsteen, the president and first lady" is kind of an odd thing to type. I have to give Kyle Munson bonus internet points for his "99 counties & Jay-Z ain't in 1" tweet.

The location for Monday's appearance should be announced later today. I'll update once it's official.
