Stone Sour, Avenged Sevenfold and more announced for Lazerfest
KAZR Lazer 103.3 has announced initial bands for Lazerfest 2011, scheduled for May 15 at the Indianola Balloon Grounds.
Iowa's own Stone Sour, Avenged Sevenfold, Three Days Grace, Seether, Queensryche, Bullet for My Valentine and My Darkest Days are the first to be announced, with more to come.
Stone Sour was supposed to be in the running last year, but ended up dropping out to do more work on "Audio Secrecy." Three Days Grace closed out last year's Lazerfest, and Seether was also a part of the show.
In 2010 Lazerfest sold out for the first time, with 25,000 attendees. I spoke with promoter Chris Cardani last week and he said they're looking to up capacity to around 30,000 this year. A big part of the problem is limited roads leading into the balloon grounds, as well as parking.
Tickets will be $37 for a limited time and will go on sale Feb. 11 through Ticketmaster. But if you're a Lazer TNA member you can get tickets early and for only $32. Sign up here.
Fresh rumors have been circulating that Corey Taylor may be the new frontman for Velvet Revolver. Much like Rolling Stone and Billboard, I havne't been able to get a comment on it either. But in the past Taylor has said he tried out for the band after Scott Weiland left.
