Slay. Sweat. Support. Stomach.

I wrote about the Maximum Ames Music Festival in this week’s Juice cover story, but the Maximum Ames Records label also has big news this week: The opening of the Iowa Music Store. The new website, iowamusicstore.com, is a centralized hub, selling material by Iowa bands including William Elliott Whitmore, SuperChief, Brooks Strauss and others along with Maximum Ames acts. So if you want to buy a Keepers of the Carpet record and a Leslie Hall shirt, you can do it at one site with a combined shipping charge. Albums and merchandise by more than 50 Iowa artists were available at launch, with more to come.

"One of the general goals of Maximum Ames is to promote all the creativity and projects going on in Iowa," said label co-founder Chris Ford. "With the Iowa Music Store it gives us a way to promote the community and bring everything together in one place."

The site also offers bicycle delivery for all of Ames and central Des Moines. Just tell them when you’ll be home and a courier (sometimes and Iowa musicians themselves)  will deliver your order.

Ford said there are plans for pop-up Iowa Music Stores at Iowa festivals like Maximum Ames and Mission Creek. There's also an Vault of Heroes section of the site, which will feature some rare, one-of-a-kind items relating to the Iowa music scene in the not-too-distant-future.

If you're one of the first 50 people to spend $30 you'll get a free Raygun shirt, as modeled in the picture.
