Tied to the Tracks Sunday, Rendezvous on Riverview next week

I try to be an impartial journalist, but this is MY blog, and sometimes I just say "I'm pushing friends and relatives!"

First, my brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law's band, Tied to the Tracks, is opening for Millions of Dead Cops Saturday at the Vaudeville Mews. I still haven't seen them perform, and I will miss them again this week because of some dinner plans. But they have an old-timey jug band sound. So check them out.

And while I'm mentioning that, I'll bring up that five years ago I was out on a date with my now wife and we walked by the Vaudeville Mews and I was handed a MDC sticker, which I stuck in my pocket. A week or so later I was walking to work and a fire hydrant type thing snagged my pants, ripping them. I was worried about what I would do, since I was pretty much at work. But then I realized it was the pants with the MDC sticker in the pocket. I slapped it over the rip, which slightly saved me from embarassment. Having a punk rock sticker on my pants seemed a little more professional than a rip. Good thing I work at Juice.

In other news, Rendezvous on Riverview kicks off next week at Sixth and Boston avenues. This is in my neighborhood, and my neighbor is one of the organizers. It's free each week, with cheap beer and food. 

It runs from 5-8 p.m. Fridays in June and July. Here's the line-up:
