Toby Keith joins Iowa State Fair Grandstand acts
If you're a country fan, it's a strong year for the Iowa State Fair, and it just got stronger with the addition of Toby Keith, who will be playing the Grandstand on Aug. 15.
Keith last played Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena in 2009. In 2010 he announced a date with no venue attached in Des Moines, but that never ended up coming together.
Keith's sixteeenth album, "Hope on the Rocks," was released last October. Earlier this week tragedy struck the Keith camp when his bassist, Carl "Chuck" Goff Jr., was killed in a car crash.
Kip Moore will open the show. Tickets are $49, and an onsale date is still TBA.
There are still two more Iowa State Fair acts to be announced. Here's what the lineup looks like so far:
Aug. 8: Casting Crowns with Jeremy Camp.
Aug. 9: The Happy Together Tour with The Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Chuck Negron (of Three Dog Night), Mark Lindsay (of Paul Revere & The Raiders) and Gary Lewis.
Aug. 11: Dierks Bentley and Justin Moore
Aug. 13: Victoria Justice
Aug. 15: Toby Keith and Kip Moore
Aug. 16: Train and Matt Nathanson.
Aug. 18: Alan Jackson and Gary Allan. .
