The Music Tapes: Julian Koster’s band played in Fleming’s kitchen in 2000. The band was playing in DIY spaces and only asked for a $100 guarantee, which Fleming figured was a better deal than traveling to see the band. Here’s Koster’s memories of the show: “I remember there were so many kids packed into this space, it completely could not accommodate them. People were on each other’s shoulders; literally stacked vertically. The spirit of the whole thing was so much fun.”
