Awful Experience

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentines dinner and as soon as we got there the server sat at our table to take our order. She let my boyfriend sit there without water for almost an hour. He had ordered steak and it came back to the table rare and when he asked to have it put back on the grill to cook for a few more minutes, our waitress was arguing with us that the steak was medium (even though there was blood coming out). By the time he got his steak back, I had already eaten and had my food boxed up, so we just got his to go. The restraunt was not busy, yet service was very slow and unprofessional. Our waitress was holding a baby for 10 minutes or so instead of checking on us (at that point we were waiting for her to come back because his steak was cooked rare). I will never go back here

I have been to GC to eat dinner many times and have always enjoyed their selection and beers. I have now been to the brunch three times since discovering it a couple months ago and it is amazing! The food is kept very fresh at all times, the caramel rolls keep coming, I love the eggs benedict station, last week the prime rib was cooked perfectly... I couldn't be more impressed with a Sunday brunch--I can hardly contain myself for the upcoming Easter brunch!

Ill say it time and time again, but I generally try and stick with locally owned spots in the Des Moines area. I will say that I think Granite City is one of the best chains we have. Its a great mix of bar and restaurant and they brew their own beer. Like many brewries, there is a home brew for everyone.

I say it time and time again-I try to stay away from the generic suburban chains. Granite City is different than most though. I have been there a handful of times for various occasions and have always had great food. Surprisingly, their home brewed beer is fantastic as well. I agree with other reviewers in the fact that their salads are wonderful. They have a pasta/lettuce salad combination that I would never dream of marrying, but is pulled of just right. My boyfriend has ordered the from their pasta menu a few times and I definitely enjoyed stealing bites of his plate!

If your out West and needing a spot to eat-they usually get people in and out pretty fast, and Ive always had good service.

Another bland warehouse

We had always heard this was a good place, so we finally gave it a try. It seemed like we had a bored or unhappy former manager or something as a server; no personality at all! The food was about as tasty as dinner at a breakfast chain place! The prices were decent, but I would rather pay more and actually taste something.

Great Salads

If you are wanting an amazing salad look no further. However, plan on spending a little cash to get that salad. The beef tenderloin salad was perfection and in the end I am glad I spend a little extra to try something new. As for the setting, overall its really noisy with a combination of news reels, games and the open set kitchen. Its okay if you are wanting a fast-paced lunch but I would head somewhere different if you are meeting with friends and family, especially if you would like to hear them.

Exellent Beers On Tap

The Idaho Nachos are a must have! I have also enjoyed many of their other appetizers. The entrees are ok, I would not recommend the meatloaf, but you do get a reasonable amount of food for your money.

Always a Safe Bet

Never had a bad item off the menu here--in fact their salads are so fantastic they are quite often the take out dinner choice in my home. The waitstaff are incredibly friendly and personable, always a plus for casual patio dining. Not the place for a swanky evening, but the best casual choice in West Des Moines.
