Stomping Grounds

I went to school at Iowa State and discovered this place early on in my time in Ames. They have a wide variety of coffee, tea, international beers as well as cafe food (I say that meaning you aren't going to order a steak here). On this particular occasion I ordered the brie, salami and roma tomato sandwich on a French baguette. It was delicious. The sandwich also comes with a side salad of field greens and a couple slices of cucumber with a slightly-on-the-creamy-side balsamic vinaigrette dressing. For dessert I got the Nutella and banana crepe which is sprinkled with warm Nutella and some powdered sugar. This was quite good although this time (I have ordered this a lot) the crepe was a little more chewy then I would prefer. Still great flavor though.
They have tables and chairs set up as well a couple cushy chairs and loveseats. A couple years ago they covered all the outlets with flat plates so there is no place to plug in a laptop. I believe this was done to create more a restaurant atmosphere. Another bit of advice...they have great, friendly servers here, but don't think you can eat and dash..things take a while longer which is nice and relaxing as long as you have the time for it. I love this place and will continue to stop here each time I come to Ames.

Stomping Grounds is one of the best places in Ames to visit. You can study there, grab dinner and drinks with friends, have a coffee or lunch break, enjoy some delicious coffee or tea, check out local art or even catch a concert on the patio. Despite that fact that its completely versatile, the food is amazing as well. Some of my favorite are their crepe options (savor or sweet), their baguette sandwiches and the very popular tomato soup they make daily. I also absolutely love their green teas. The atmosphere is creative and laid back and perfect to catch up with an old friend over a glass of wine or brainstorm an idea for your thesis. Thats the beauty of Stomping Grounds!

I love Stomping Grounds! They have fresh, delicious, home made food. I highly recommend their creamy tomato soup-heavenly! I love going for lunch at work, or just for a cup of their green tea. My lunch order is almost always a baguette and soup, although I have heard the savory crepes are amazing. Its a large place, with a big patio in the front. Good thing it can hold so many customers, because it can get quite busy at times. You can always find ISU professors meeting with students or study groups. Another reason I love it-its the perfect spot for so many different functions from studying to drinking wine. Local art decorates the wall and is an experience in itself.

Stomping Grounds is truly one of my favorite places in Ames. They have a great patio for the warmer months, something that is really lacking in Ames. The inside is spacious and adorned with local art and minimalist style tables. I absolutely love their menu that consists of a plethora of coffee, tea and specialty drinks, great beer and wine choices and salads, soup, paninis, baugettes, various sandwiches and one of their specialties-their crepes. Nutella and banana crepes are one of my favorite foods ever and I was so happy to find out they serve them here! Try the tomato soup-I dream about it in my cubicle some days.
