For a long time Wednesdays were packed at A Taste of Italy. That’s because Wednesday was the day the Clive shop would sell its Italian beef sandwiches. Thankfully, Taste of Italy is now serving them on a daily basis, making hungry diners happy every day of the week.
The closest comparison to this Italian Beef is probably a French Dip. Fresh slices of beef are nestled inside a hoagie bun, covered with mozzarella cheese (and optional hot and sweet peppers) and toasted. An au jus comes on the side for dipping. With each bite you get a bit of heat, crunch and softness. It’s the perfect combo.
A Taste of Italy is a great Italian deli, but the Italian beef sets them apart. The heat in the hot peppers varies according to the time of year. When ordering, ask to get an idea of how spicy your sandwich will end up being.
