We love the beer dinner trend. Any excuse to have a round while eating a salad sounds like fun, especially in the winter months when mega-meals make a cold night cozier. Most also include an educational element, with the brewmaster or chef explaining the menu and qualities of the beer.
Olde Main Brewing Co. & Restaurant, 316 Main St., Ames, will host a Harvest Beer Dinner on Nov. 12 that features four courses paired with four of its microbrews. Brewery tours and a social hour will begin at 6 p.m., with the dinner service starting at 7 p.m. Olde Main brewers will be on hand to discuss the food and beer pairings. If you've never sat anywhere but at the bar, this is a good opportunity to take your time at a table and experience the brewery in a more mature manner.
Cost: $40 per person (includes tax and gratuity)
Reservations are required. To hold a spot in the dinner you must pay the full $40 or a $20 deposit.
The Menu
Appetizer: Caramelized crimini, oyster and shitaki mushrooms in puff pastry with a Sodbuster Stout demi glace.
Beer Pairing: Sodbuster stout ale
