I don't think you'd get any disagreement from anyone here that Waveland is somewhat of a Des Moines staple. But, unlike in the past, it's not about the food here anymore.

To clarify, I sent a long list of DM diner spots including the Drake Diner, Baby Boomers, Porky's, Smitty's and a few others to Guy. For space reasons I only mentioned one in the story, but I heartily disagree that a place with as much character and a line out the door every Sunday is not an ideal spot for that show.

Drake diner would have been a much better choice if you wanted to suggest a local diner. But with all of the other great places in town......Royal Mile, Djengo, Lucca....the list could go on....

Waveland is terrible. I don't care how long it's been around, or if it's diner motif fits in with Guy's show... there are a dozen other places in town that fit AND have real good food.
