Alohana Hawaiian Grill

I was informed after visiting for lunch that Alohana is moving to the old KC BBQ at 205 E 14th St, Capitol East. Sometime late October.

I bought a coupon for a $20 dinner for 2 for $10 for this restaurant only to find that the restaurant is out of business. Why would a restaurant advertise when they were closing anyway? Interestingly the sign on the door said they still cater. There were cars pulling up to the restaurant only to find disappointment.

I was excited to try out this Alohana because I haven't heard of a place in the metro like it. I was very disappointed though. I walked in and there were about 3 tables filled with an average of 2 people at each. This was at about 12:15pm. They were very attentive at the counter taking my order but made no suggestions and treated me like I should have known what Chicken Katsu was. I ordered it anyways. The food wasn't quick but it didn't take super long. I would compare the wait to Culver's. I got mine to go. I will say that it was hot and fresh but the chicken was some of the worst quality I have ever had. It was mostly fatty dark meat filled with tendons. The breading was decent but nothing spectacular. It came with BBQ sauce. I honestly could have gotten better chicken at McDonalds. I was very disappointed. I understand why it wasn't crowded beyond its awful location hidden behind a bank. I will not be recommending it or going back.
